« Ourhoud, flagship of the collaboration of international partners with Sonatrach »
Ourhoud is an oil field located in the basin of Berkine 200 km south of Hassi Messaoud city in Algeria. The Algerian national company Sonatrach and the Spanish company Cepsa along with other partners created the Ourhoud Organisation to optimally operatethis huge field.
Ourhoud is the biggest oil field in Algeria.
may 1992, Sontrach and Cepsa sign the agreement allowing the operating of bloc 406 A in the basin of Berkine.
1995, The Ourhoud oil field is discovered. It spreads over 2 other blocs. The 404 for which the Sonatrach partners are Anadarko, Eni and Maersk and the 405 for which the partners are Burlington and Talisman.
1997 all these companies sign an agreement allowing the co-operating of this huge oil field. This co-operating of a field regrouping several blocs is known as unitisation of the field and it aims at the optimum development of the field as a whole.
